Sharing is caring!

Hi everyone! I cant believe it’s already Thursday! I’m so ready for the weekend. I have so many fun plans, I am going into the city on Saturday for an event and than on Sunday I am meeting up with Nicolette from The Brightest Brunette for a photo shoot. Than it is only one more week of classes until I am on Spring Break!! If you couldn’t tell from all my latest Instagram posts, I am very excited to be in the warm weather. It will also give me the opportunity to shoot some new Spring outfits, as there is still snow here, so not really an option. I’m so excited for today’s topics! Also guys this header image was from the first photo shoot I ever did for my blog, it is from almost 2 years ago!

For today’s blog post, I decided I would change it up from my usually fashion content. I wanted to talk about how I balance school and blogging. For those of you who are new here, I started my blog as a fashion and lifestyle blog towards the end of my sophomore year of college (almost two years ago!!!). I am a fashion merchandising major, so I thought it would be fun to share my love for fashion with others. For months leading up to me actually starting my blog, it took me forever to come up with a name. I also really had no idea what I was doing. I had the help of my dad with the initial creation of my website, but it was really a learning experience the first few months.  It was almost Summer, so I hadn’t really experienced balancing blogging and school till the next Fall (not that I was really posting much at first).  I’m not going to lie, for the at least the first year of having my blog, I didn’t really post consistently on my blog or social media accounts.  The hardest thing for me then and now was the issue of taking pictures. I am lucky enough to have a friend who minors in photography, so she takes a good amount of my pictures. But it is still hard to take enough pictures it have a ton of content. Since starting to get the hang of the whole blogging, I had another obstacle to get through, balancing it with school.

This started to happen about when I was studying abroad. The whole content issue wasn’t as big as I was traveling almost every weekend, so I had so many pictures. The issue was trying to figure out when to blog; with school and travel it was hard to find time. Honestly, I don’t think I really found a great way to balance blogging time that semester. To be honest, I think I really started getting a hang of it until the beginning of last semester. I know it’s kind of crazy, but it really did take me more than a year to figure out what I was doing.  Blogging had always just been a fun thing I did when I had the time, but I really wanted it to be more. I attended my first event in October where I met some really lovely bloggers that I still keep in touch with! This was really the first time I had met other bloggers, and I had such as fun time!  I quickly realized how much I could do with my blog. I have had the opportunity to meet some amazing people and just talk about things that I love.

Okay so now that I went on a long tangent about my blogging journey, for my part all about my experience about balancing blogging with everyday life. So a lot of my resolutions for this year actually have to do with my blog. My biggest one was working on my consistency. One of the first things I did was plan to put out two blog posts a week, and I have those days posted on my blog. This way I am able to plan out that I know I need to have a blog post up on Sunday and Thursday, no questions asked. The way I am able to do this is because I have been planning my posts a few weeks a head of time. I know this sounds so simply, but it wasn’t something I really did consistently.

In January I sat down, and started brainstorming blog post ideas for the next three months. While sometimes you can’t plan everything to a tee, I had a general idea of a lot of them. Such as in the beginning of February, I knew I wanted to have a few Valentine’s day posts, and the end February/ beginning of March, I wanted Spring Break/ Vacations posts. I found that this helps me so much in balancing my blogging with school. Because of this I am able to work on my blog when I have some free time, but a lot of my ideas are already planned out. Timing and planning are my biggest factors when balancing school and blogging!!

When school and blogging collided! I helped plan an Influencer event where these lovely ladies came to speak

I have have grown so much from blogging. Whether it be as a person or in my knowledge. I have become such a more confidant person, and I have step more and more out of my comfort zone everyday. I have so many fun and exciting things planned for the next few weeks, that I can’t wait to share with you! Thanks for all the love over the past two years!
