Sharing is caring!

Hi everyone! I hope you all had an great week! We are now officially well into Fall and its starting to actually feel like Fall in New York. Fall weather means warm sweaters and hot drinks. I know that Pumpkin Spiced Lattes are probably one of the most popular drink for Fall, unfortunately I am not the biggest fan of pumpkin spice or coffee (unless it’s Chick-Fil-a iced coffee!). My go to drink is usually a Chai tea latte. I love them iced during the Summer (and sometimes during the fall lol) and hot during the Fall/Winter. I usually go to Starbucks for an iced chai latte and I love Dunkin for a hot vanilla chai latte. But honestly it gets expensive at around $4-5 dollars for a drink, so I thought I would go on a hunt for the best chai tea lattes at home. I found four different options! I wanted to try them all and share my thought with you all. Over the last week, I decided to test them all both hot and iced! Starting out, my general opinion while making the lattes was that the powdered mixes are easier to make hot and the liquid concentrates are easier to make iced. All the products have instructions on how to make them hot or iced, for a fraction of the price right at home!

Tazo Classic Latte Chai Black Tea

This is the classic Chai Tea, and the most similar to what you would expect from you Starbucks chai tea latte. Like I said above the liquid concentrate involves more work to have hot, but on the other hand it’s easy and quick to make it iced. To make a chai latte with this product, you just mix equal parts of the concentrate and milk (or non dairy milk substitute). For iced you just add ice and you are ready to do. For hot you can heat the mixture in the microwave or on the stove. I have been using this product for a few years now, and it’s a great alternative if you love the Starbucks version of a classic chai tea latte.

Trader Joe’s Spiced Chai Black Tea Concentrate

This product from Trader Joe’s is also a concentrate, but it has a different flavor as it’s spiced. A normal chai latte does sometimes have a little bit of a spice, but not that strong. To make this chai latte, you mix 1 part concentrate and 2 parts milk (or non dairy milk). It says you can serve it hot (so Im assuming same as the last one, you can heat on stove or in microwave) or you can serve it iced by pouring it over ice. So for the iced version of this, I like it was a little spice heavy for my liking. Now it could have been I might have just been a little heavy on the concentrate, or for next time I’ll just put a little less.

Big Train Vanilla Chai Tea Latte

I first found out about the brand of chai latte from a friend. She had it made me a hot chai latte at school, and it was amazing. This chai latte mix has a different flavor than the others as it is Vanilla. This one is kind of similar to the Dunkin hot vanilla chai latte, which is my go to Fall drink from Dunkin. This mix is so easy to make hot, you just use the scooper and put one scoop in your mug and add hot water. For the iced version it adds a little bit more work (even though its not that much harder!). You add a little bit of hot water to 1 1/3- 2 scoops of the mix. Then you pour that over ice and add a milk of your choice. All the measurements are on the container, the amounts change depending on the size of the latte you are making. I really loved the vanilla flavor of this chai, especially in the hot version. Because it has vanilla it is a bit sweeter, but its so good!

Trader Joe’s Spicy Chai Tea Latte Mix

This is the other spicy chai latte, but this one is a powder mix. It’s is similar to make as the previous one. For a hot chai latte you mix one scoop with hot water and for a iced chai latte you mix a scoop with a little water and add ice and milk (or non dairy option). I actually really liked the flavor of this one. While it is spiced, I didn’t think it was as powerful as the concentrate, which I liked better. This was the perfect amount of spice for me, and it was really delicious as both hot and iced!

This was such a fun post for me to do! I love a good chai latte, but I want to look for ways to save a little money. Making your favorite chai latte at home is a great way to save some money but still enjoy a delicious drink! I found several different options that can be made as hot or iced. They are all different in terms of flavor as well (classic, vanilla, spiced), so depending on which kind of chai latte you like might be different then which flavor is my favorite. I really liked pretty much all the options, so deciding which ones are my favorite is difficult lol. Depending on which flavor I’m in the mood for kind of determines, which chai latte I would want. My top brand for a hot chai latte would be probably be a tie between Big Train Vanilla Chai Tea Latte and Trader Joe’s Spicy Chai Tea Latte Mix. The powder mixes make it easy for a hot chai latte, but I also really like the flavors of these two. For a iced chai latte I really liked the Tazo Classic Latte Chai Black Tea because of both the flavor and how easy it was. I also liked the iced version of Big Train Vanilla Chai Tea Latte as well!
